Freddie Gray
Another week, another black man killed by police.
What I'm Writing:
I haven't been there this time around, but the Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood of Baltimore is where I spent more than three months in the fall of 2013 reporting on ex-offenders trying to get jobs.
What I'm Reading:
A collection of pieces from my favorite Baltimore writer. The best pictures from the uprising. Freddie Gray's old neighborhood. The local opinion. Baltimore's segregationist past. The violence did not begin with the riots, which is why it's not going to work to appeal for calm. More important history on Baltimore and its poverty and unemployment.
What I'm Listening To:
Rembert Explains the unrest.
What I'm Watching:
I finally caught up with The Americans. Best show on television.
Cute Animal Pic of the Week:
A friend sent me this about how our cats are trying to talk to us, and I said "I wish I knew what Sampson was trying to tell me." She said he's been saying, "'Move the DVD's.'"
