Long Time Gone
It's been a crazy summer: I've been traveling, I moved, and I've been working, working, working. Now, I finally have something to show for it.
What I've Been Writing:
What Became of the Boy Who Accidentally Shot His Sister Dead? I pitched this story because we hear about these incidents all the time, but we so rarely hear about what happens to those involved afterward. Spoiler: a lot of trauma and sadness.
What I've Been Reading:
Here are the highlights: A couple of geniuses. Dogs and cats love us, says science. I'm a hot mess for Hillary. Can Hillary win over the left? Ina Garten's human parts. The year we obsessed over identity. Don't shoot, I'll put the animals back! The drone papers. The defeat of "black Grantland." Shuttered: The end of abortion in red America. Building a personal brand. On the lack of diversity in TV writers' rooms. On one of the 5,000 people who die alone in New York City every year.
What I've Been Watching:
The Good Wife, seasons 1 through 5, as I've spent my weekends putting furniture together and unpacking. Probably won't watch Season 6, but the first five seasons were definitely worth it.
What I'm Recommending:
It's soup weather! Very specifically, if you've never tried this broccoli-cheese soup from America's Test Kitchen, you have no idea what deliciousness tastes like.
Cute Animal Pic of the Week:
I've recently moved to the edge of a farm, so there are plenty of critters running around here. For now, I'll share the horse that comes to visit while I'm at my desk.
